EDDIE: (A little tired as he fawns over himself.) I’ll be real with you… I can’t remember the last time I’ve gone out anywhere… Probably not since my last gig…
SALLY: Ha! I don’t remember either! Could’ve been as far back as that Welcome Home test pilot for all I know! Either way, it’s long overdue! This production is draining me of what makes me shine!
EDDIE: (He laughs more good naturedly this time.) Oh, you say that, but I know you like showin’ off what you can do!
SALLY: (Said dramatically as a joke.) Oh, I do… It’s my one and only flaw! (Back to her usual self.) But enough already- Are you decent or what?!
EDDIE: (Cheerfully said.) More than that! How do I look?
SALLY: Eddie! Okay! I dig it! Finally get to see you dressing up rather than being hunched over puppets all day!
EDDIE: Oh, yer sweet. Did you get Poppy to come with us?
SALLY: Noooo! She insists on staying home- But I’m wearing her down, I can feel it! I have a show planned just for that very day!
EDDIE: Ooh? Gettin’ serious, Sal?
SALLY: (Said nonchalantly.) Hmmm… I’m waiting to see… Labels might scare her off…
EDDIE: Then… Anybody else comin’?
SALLY: From work? No way! They’re all real drags! Oh, especially, uh… what’s-her-name! She’s such a wall flower and a total doormat!
EDDIE: (Playfully said.) Be nice! What about Ron?
SALLY: (Said in a huff of frustration.) Ohh, don’t even get me started on Ron! Like he’d come anyways! It’s like he never leaves his office!
EDDIE: You guys had a heavy talk, huh?
SALLY: (Insistent and frustrated. But she inhales and exhales to collect herself.) It went fine! We had a disagreement, is all. …It’s only a matter of time before he realizes how much potential I really have…
EDDIE: (Comfortingly.) Oh, you’ll move up before you know it, Sal. You got me in the writer’s room with ya, didn’t ya? I’d say you got more sway than you realize and I know it’s ’cause of how much Ron respects ya.
SALLY: (Proudly.) Hmph… He does, doesn’t he? And I get the job done better than anyone! But no more work talk, Ed! Here, give me that, you’re smudging it.
EDDIE: Thank you, Sal… (He hums, then laughs bashfully.) …One more thing about work?
SALLY: (Sternly said.) Hmm… Okay. Only one!
EDDIE: …Did I tell ya about what happened the other day? It’s while I was tailorin’ an outfit for you-know-whose li’l puppet… Well, he didn’t say it, but I knew he thought it was cute! It felt like we were…-!
SALLY: (Quickly interrupting him.) Ugh- Gag me! Do me a solid and stop talking about your little ‘used-to-be’ and phone in to the present, Ed! You owe it to yourself! He left you high and dry, remember? He’ll just do it again!
EDDIE: Well, I… (He laughs uneasily.) …I guess yer right…
SALLY: (Calling to EDDIE.) You’re right I’m right! Know what you're worth, or else you’re going to find yourself under his dweeby loafer before you know it.
EDDIE: (He laughs a little more good naturedly.) How could that happen when I got somebody like you lookin’ out for me?
SALLY: Not always, so you better keep me in the back of your mind- Ah, there! All done! Oh! Let’s book it already! I need to stretch my legs and be freeeee! …And theeen let’s swing by Poppy’s after! For a bite or whatever-!
EDDIE: (He laughs.) Oooh, you can’t fool me, you just wanna looove on her!
SALLY: (She laughs with him.) So what if I want to looove on her!
