(He is whispering, with a quickened and worried tone.) E-Eddie? Eddie, are you there? Why aren’t you answering? Eddie!

EDDIE: (He is very quiet.) I-I think I need to go home.

FRANK:

Home? Ah - the post office. Yes, let me help you-

EDDIE: (Eddie is scared.)

No! Please- I gotta get out of here, I need to go home!

(Sound of clambering and footsteps. A door opens to the howling winter winds.)

(There are footsteps in the snow. The wind grows louder. A heartbeat is heard.)

JULIE: Frank!

FRANK:

…Julie.

(Frank sounds different. It sounds like a radio.)

Julie stopped me? She grabbed my hand… But what did she say?

JULIE: (She laughs.) What are you doing, silly billy? The party’s this way! Come on, let’s go eat, drink and be merry!

FRANK:

(Frank sounds different.)

Was that… was that right? Was she really this… adamant? Was it really her? Was she someone else? (He sounds normal.) …No, no I have to go. I’m very sorry, I need to talk to…

(Frank breathes.)

FRANK:

What are you doing here…?

(There is a sting.)

WALLY: Didn’t you hear me, Frank? I said we should go eat, drink, and be merry. Doesn’t that sound like the most? 

FRANK:

… Yes, it does… (He sounds different. He sounds scared.) It was Wally? Why would he stop me? Julie’s so strong, Wally couldn’t have been the one to hold me back… (He sounds normal.)… But I’m sorry, Wally, I think I’ve been here for too long. I-

WALLY: (Said firm.) Why do you say that, Frank. (This is not a question.) What’s wrong.

FRANK:

(He is scared. The heartbeat is louder and faster.)

Nothing’s wrong, Wally. (A sting.) I need to get going, there’s nothing for me here, (Another sting.) This Homewarming has been just fine but I’m tired and I need to go Home!

(Frank’s voice echoes. It is quiet now.)

FRANK:

(The wind begins to roar again. Frank sounds different.)

It was me… I couldn’t go through the door. But then… how did I get here? (The heartbeat returns. It is getting louder.) Why can’t I remember?

(A loud crack is heard.)
